In his latest book, Warning Shadows, Gary Giddins calls Jammin' the Blues "the finest jazz short ever made." A few weeks ago in the Wall Street Journal, Will Friedwald called it "quite easily the most amazing visual representation of the jazz aesthetic that I've ever seen—whether through painting, dance, film or whatever."
